Camp Scatico
John James Hickey (JJ) started his camping career over 40 years ago at Camp Scatico in Elizaville, NY. He uses his theatrical training at Columbia University and the Yale School of Drama to create dynamic leadership and professional childcare workshops which he has led throughout the US and abroad. JJ is the co-author of the book "How Long To Visiting Day?: Creative Role-Playing for Training Camp Counselors." He has dedicated the last 20 summers volunteering at Camp Oasis, an annual week-long summer camp for campers and counselors living with Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. Some of the workshops he led at Tri-State have included: The Skill of Reframing, Is Your Camp Doing Enough to Be Introvert-Friendly?, Treating Homesickness Using Grief Strategies, Unlocking the Power of Emotions, Creative Activities for an Inclusive Culture, Saving Face: Finding the Win-Win in Conflict Resolution, Filmmaking at Camp: Building on Creativity, Creative Role Playing to Match Your Leadership Style.
