No art skills required! This interactive session will illustrate the transformative power of artmaking as a tool for both staff training and camper support. Attendees will participate in "process-over-product" creative exercises, designed to support staff training by facilitating engagement, reflection, and retention of topics, and support campers by providing a low-stress outlet for processing their own emotions and experiences. Using low-cost mediums such as drawing, collage, found poetry and more, this workshop will cover the benefits of art as a reflective practice, ways to integrate artmaking into various types of training modules and daily activities, and strategies to facilitate discussions based on artistic expression.
