We often ask staff to, "stop and think" in moments of decision or to "consider options logically." These strategies can be very valuable for non-immediate decision-making. Our logical, thinking brains can lead us to rationalize risky decisions in the moment.
Instead, we can promote gist decision-making encouraging staff to make bottom-line, values-driven, gut-check decisions by asking, "Is this OK?". In this session, we'll dive deeper into gist decision-making, exploring practical strategies and activities to help summer staff develop and strengthen this approach during training.
